This week, another feature from Behind The Collection : 

The making of The Nocturnal Print.

In the studio: The moodboard of the very first sketches,

 sugargliders, eucalyptus blossoms, William Morris and May Gibbs.

Lots of drawing in the studio! The first stages of the design,

 composing the repeat and perfecting the final outline.

The next stages involved layering many components of the design,

 painting and mark-making by hand.

One of my favourite parts: bringing the sugargliders to life!

Making the starry night sky.......

Voila! The finished design, digitally printed onto silks and cottons.

This week, another feature from Behind The Collection : 

The making of The Ornamental Leaf Print.

In the studio: This hand-drawn print was inspired 

by rhythmical wallpaper designs by William Morris.

To make this print extra special, I drew directly onto the 

toile to make the engineered placement sit just right.
